Jane...

"The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties in your hand, the path of God just before you.  Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain common work as it comes certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things of life."  -Robert Louis Stevenson

Yikes!  It has been a long time since I have posted.  I finally have a few minutes to try to get caught up.
First, my little lady, Jane, has given me several scares.  When we left the hospital in December, after her major stroke, the doctor told me she would be having some more, and not to worry about them.  A couple of weeks ago, she had another major stroke, and she was unresponsive.  I got to her place before the EMTs arrived, and she was just beginning to come around.  (on my way over I wondered if this was it for her, but it was not).  Long story short, we did not go to the hospital, and she was fine the next day.  I asked her if she remembered what happened last night, and she remembered parts.  I asked if she had an out of body experience, which she did not.  Rats, I wanted to hear what it was like.  We had an interesting conversation after that point.  It went like this:

Me: "Jane, wouldn't you like to just quit all this stuff, and go be with the Lord?"
Jane: "Oh, no, I have so much more living to do, and a lot of things I still want to do."
Me: "What can you do?  You can hardly see, or hear, and it takes one or two people to help you get around? "
Jane: "I' m just not ready to go."
Me: "Jane, don't you want to go to heaven and be with Jesus?"
Jane: "No, I want to stay here."
Me: "I guess that is where we are different.  I would want to go be with Jesus since it is beyond wonderful and beautiful.  Do you know what heaven will be like?
Jane: "No."
Me: "Oh, Jane, even the best times you have had here on the earth cannot compare to the what it will be like in Heaven.  It is about 100,000 times better.  It is going to be glorious!"
Me: "I think maybe one of the reasons you do not want to go be with Jesus is because you don't have a relationship with Him."
Jane: "You are probably right.  I never knew anyone who reads their Bible everyday like you.  I do go to church."
Me:  "Going to church doesn't make you a believer anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.  Have you ever asked Jesus into your heart?"
Jane: "No."
Me: "Would you like to now."
Jane: "Yes."

Over the years, she and I have had many conversations about God, Jesus, and Christianity, but none that got to the heart of things.  I was not sure where she stood. I knew she went to church, but I never saw her read her Bible or pray. She knew very little about God. I have been taking the book, Jesus Calling (http://www.christianbook.com/jesus-calling/sarah-young/9781591451884/pd/451884?kw=jesus%20calling&event=PPCSRC&p=1020037) over everyday and reading it to her.  It speaks to her heart, and she always ask questions, and wants me to copy certain pages for her. When I first started taking care of her, I prayed that the Lord would not take her until I knew beyond question that she would be with Him when her life was over.  I can be sure now.  Lately, she has good days and bad days.  Today, has not been a good day.  We had to call 911 again today, but she is okay again.  I know one day she will not respond, but that will be okay now too, because she will be with the Lord.

Her hand's.  She always wants her nails done.

I took this a couple of days ago.  I have not touched it up at all.  Everyone she meets is amazed that she is 95 years old...soon to be 96, in May.  Notice she hardly has any wrinkles.  She uses Pond's cream.  I bought me some too, hoping it will keep my wrinkles at bay, too!

There is no happier news than to know another soul will be in heaven. Jane is a lovely lady, and if Jane attributes her youthful appearance to using Pond's cream, we should all get some!

WOW! What a wonderful story. It seems pretty clear this is why God put you in her path, and now she can go meet the Lord!! What a wonderful woman of God you are, and I am so thankful and blessed to have a mother-in-law as you.

WOW! God is so good. Thanks for caring for and sharing Jesus with Jane. You have been an eternal blessing.

FYI. The pics of her and her hands are not on your post now.
