Dr. Bond...

"A friend is someone who helps you up when you're down, and if they can't, they lay down beside you and listen." -unknown

My neighbors, the Bonds, are more than friends--they are more like family.  We have been across the street neighbors for 25 years.   Well, today, Dr. Bond got some news that is rather hard to swallow; His left leg will have to be amputated below the knee.  He has a lost circulation in the leg, and has a wound that has turned gangrenous.   Let me tell you, there are no words that adequately encourage and comfort.  They seem like meaningless platitudes, so I listen, and pray.  I feel helpless and inadequate.
It is in situations like this that I am thankful to a heavenly Father who has all the bases covered.  He has sent us a Helper, the Holy Spirit, who will intercede for us when we do not have the words.  Romans 8: 26 says it all:

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

Dr. Bond and his grandson, Ryan

I will be groaning for Dr. Bond.
