From above...help from my cat...

"Looks only make you look further." -Luke McKelvy

I am taking Kim Klassen's class called 'Start to Finish."  In it, we learn everything she does to a get a photo from start to finish including the set up,  culling of pictures, the edit, adding texture, and getting it ready for print.  I cannot believe how much I have learned in each class...you get a lot of bang for your buck.  The class is still life, which I am not very good at setting up, but it has made me more mindful of composition, and thinking before I shoot.  One of our assignments was to shoot 'from above.'  I had a lot of help with my set up from Maggie, my cat...all shot 'from above.'  She likes to help out with most of my activities...

"How do you like this pose for "from above?"  I look pretty awesome..."

"Let me help you pick out a flower or two..."

"I like this one...oops, the petals just came off right in my paws...not very sturdy flowers if you ask me..."

"There are the petals on the floor...don't they look rather nice?..."
I finally went to my back porch to get away from my feline helper.  The evening sun was just perfect. I thought my background color turned out interesting since it was a white table topper.  It looked bluish, purple in the photo...which I liked, so I left it.
Rose from above...
Our next assignment was to add a vintage look to a photo.  Here is my original photo...
These are petals from my neighbor's tree that is in bloom.  I thought they were lovely...
Here it is with the edits, and texture added.  I do love it!
I love it!
